John Garner
(Augsburg)

Maria Rui
(München)

The sheer infinity of an ocean, a breeze of warm air on the cheeks, the indulgence of a juicy melon – Maria Rui's music conveys the soulfulness of the Mediterranean lifestyle. Sung with her smooth velvet voice, in her mother tongue Portuguese, her songs range between joy and melancholy; they radiate energy, levity and aspiration. Being influenced by classical music, Bossa Nova, but also by bands like the Doors and Led Zeppelin, she creates her own inspiring mix of Jazz, Pop, Fado and African and Brazilian music. A mix she inventively calls “atlantic“, as the Atlantic Ocean is the connecting waters between the sounds of Portugal and its former colonies.

When listening to her songs, full of joie de vivre, one cannot imagine she ever traded her passion for music for the natural sciences. But after studying piano at the conservatory in Porto for a few years, she decided to move to Germany to study aerospace engineering. Eventually, the university choir brought her back to music. And success proves her right. Her first European tour featuring her first EP “Sangue Aventureiro" (engl. "adventurous blood") was instantly sold out.

Baker's Eddy
(Melbourne, AUS)

“ Our time spent working with Tom really changed our mentality about the recording process and in turn what we produced. Capturing our raucous live show and translating that same energy to the record, something we had never quite bridged until now.
Nach der ersten Single ‘Jack Shit For You’ im September 2017 – einem "fast tempo dirty-pop-punk" Tune vollgeladen mit jugendlicher Verzweiflung - legen die Jungs jetzt mit ihrer zweiten Single 'If You See Kay‘ nach.

" We're all about having fun at the moment, living large with zero dollars... I think that shows through the music. There's an element of ‘who gives a shit’ and youthfulness mixed with cheap wine.”

Common Holly
(Montreal, CAN)

Born in New York and raised in Montreal, Common Holly (AKA Brigitte Naggar) puts unpredictable compositional elements into a singer-songwriter/folk framework, packaged in textured, eclectic electro-acoustic production. Her forthcoming album, Playing House, contemplates the notion that it is conscious thought and deliberate action that defines and cements maturation from child to adult.

“ Playing House is an expression of how I want to begin my adult life. It is my first real effort to create something that is entirely deliberate—the beginning of my journey of thoughtful action, and of daring to express myself outside of my bedroom. The creative process expresses my learning to take up more space and to put my silence behind me, while also dealing with the ending of a formative four-year relationship that had become the center of my young adult life.”

Santi & Tugçe
(Berlin)

Santi & Tugçe’s music is eclectic and innovative, with smooth, soulful melodies set to Global, Afro-Latin and Electronic dance floor rhythms. It is a sonic adventure that takes you all the way from a little town on the coast of the Black Sea to the shores of the Parana River. As Sounds and Colours magazine describes it, “it is a deeply sensual experience, one that is felt beyond the mind, and eyes; it playfully leaves you with a sense of the inexplicable, and fills you with wonder”. Santi (from Asunción, Paraguay) & Tugçe (from Istanbul, Turkey) have performed live in Europe, the US, and Latin America. They collaborated on four albums: Cíclico (2014), Songs for Another Day (2015), El Regreso del Gallito (2016) and Songs for My Grandmother (2017) and released numerous singles that are frequently heard on podcasts, radio shows, and DJ sets around the world. Their music has received wide critical acclaim from listeners worldwide. Thump Vice Brazil noted that with El Regreso del Gallito, “Santi & Tugçe rewrote Paraguayan folklore” and Red Bull Music Academy Panamérika lauded it as a great production. Their latest album Songs for My Grandmother was featured on Cosmo Radio WDR and Trndmusik. Currently based in Berlin, Santi & Tugçe have a new album planned for 2018.

Santi (Santiago Ferreira) is a Paraguayan producer and software engineer. His passion for music began with recordings. As a kid, Santi would spend hours listening to the radio, record the tunes he liked and make mixtapes. He started recording his own songs at age 12. In high school, he studied with Uruguayan musician Horacio Cordeiro who taught him classical and jazz guitar as well as music theory. After high school, he studied voice, piano, and sound technology at IPAC (Instituto Professional de Artes y Ciencias de la Comunicación) in Asunción, Paraguay. He completed his college degree in music composition, voice, and computer science. Santi’s music draws upon various influences: Afro-Latin Percussion, Western Classical Composition, Jazz Harmonization, and digital sound design.

Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Tugçe (Tugçe Kurtis) grew up with a love for music, especially music performance. At age 6, she joined the school choir and started singing. Since then, she performed in countless occasions in Turkey, Europe, the US, and Latin America. Tugçe studied voice, jazz vocals, and West-African drumming with percussionist Milford Graves and singer & songwriter Sheila Jordan among others. Various listeners have remarked that her voice is “ethereal”, “something ancient, calling from the primeval darkness of fairytale.” Tugçe’s musical interests cross genres and continents. In addition to singing and recording in multiple languages, Tugçe collaborates with Santi in song-writing and musical production. As the founder of the Kybele project, she develops opportunities for greater collaboration and broader inclusion of artists from around the world.

Scott Matthew
(New York, USA)
